Driverless demonstration in a haul vehicle

As part of our ongoing work alongside our Japanese technology partner Kyokuto Boeki Kaisha (KBK) we performed a demonstration of Indigo Drive, our full stack self-driving system that can be added to any vehicle.

Responding to specific capability requests, we headed to our local test facility where tarmac terrain allowed us to demonstrate Indigo Drive’s smooth and reliable vehicle control, even at speeds of up to 30km per hour.

An RA30 articulated dump truck with hydrostatic steering was fitted with Indigo Drive’s complete autonomy kit consisting of driving robots (attached to the steering wheel, gear stick and pedals), an electronic control unit, LiDAR and various sensors.

We pre-programmed a route using Indigo Drive’s route and task planning software, demonstrating:

Having proved the system passes all required tests, we’ve also planned to go one step further and demonstrate how it can also handle the above and more in a significantly more rugged terrain, both loaded and loaded. More on this to come!
